We are a comprehensive ophthalmology practice providing treatment in areas including cataract and refractive surgery, cornea and anterior segment disease, glaucoma, and oculoplastic. The practice was founded by Dr. Michael W. Foote in 2005. We take pride in the efficient delivery of high-quality ophthalmology care while maintaining empathy and genuine concern for our patients.

Ophthalmologist/Optometrist

Our practice, located in the sunny southwest, is looking for conscientious and hardworking optometrists and ophthalmologists to join our busy, growing practice.  With over 300 days of sunshine and short drives to mountain wilderness, desert lakes, and local ski areas, the laid-back area culture makes for a great work-life balance.  Our well-equipped, well-staffed office is located in a clean, new comfortable facility.  We’re looking for an optometrist or ophthalmologist interested in using all of his or her training and skills.  You will get to know your patients and be involved in their care from start to finish.  We’re seeking someone with a very good ability in building patient rapport.  Your diligent hard work will be rewarded with a very competitive salary, bonus potential, professional liability coverage, SIMPLE 401k with employer match, standard health insurance or HSA option, covered parking, paid leave, and paid continuing education among other benefits.  You will be supported by a strong team of technicians to assist with your patient evaluations, diagnostic testing, refraction, and documentation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform complete exams with testing services and occasional refractions, retinoscopy
  • Evaluate and interpret diagnostic studies including corneal topography, OCT, fundus photos, and visual field tests
  • Based on exams and studies, diagnose and create treatment plans with consultation or referral to ophthalmology partners as indicated
  • Fully document and review history and diagnosis and clearly outline treatment plans
  • Assist in coding and billing as well as charge review
  • Communicate regularly with providers, optical and support staff among other duties

Required:

  • MD or OD
  • DEA/DPS registration
  • Non-exclusion from CMS billing
  • Knowledge and experience in OCT, corneal topography, and visual field testing

Preferred:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience with EHR, coding, and billing

Ophthalmic Technician

We are expanding our team at Sun Eye Care. We are looking for an Ophthalmic Technician. Experience is preferred but not required. The Ophthalmic Technician generates important preliminary information to be used by the ophthalmologist; reviews the patient’s status and performs medical tests. Supports the Mission, Vision, and Values of Sun Eye Care, P.A. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reviews patient charts to ensure completeness and accuracy of information. Performs testing required by type of exam scheduled, patient complaint, and history.
  • Acts as a scribe while physician examines patient entering data into electronic medical records or handwrites in paper chart, oversees patient flow.
  • Able to take an ocular and systemic history and accurately record visual acuity.
  • Able to perform lensometry, refractometry, applanation tonometry, basic muscle balance testing, assess pupils, assess the anterior chamber, confrontation visual fields, and gross external exam.
  • Administer diagnostic tests.
  • Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.
  • Assists with in-office procedures ensuring proper informed consent are obtained, and sets up and cleans up from procedures.
  • Assists in the training of other ophthalmic technicians.
  • Assists with patient education.
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the work day.
  • Complies with all practice procedures and protocols. Complies with all State and Federal regulations. Understands and accepts responsibility to report potential or suspected errors to a supervisor or Compliance Officer.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience with EHR, coding, and billing
